We currently support a young male who has a learning disability and live in our supported living service in Syke, Rochdale. We are looking to grow our team of enthusiastic, fun honest and reliable support workers.
The young male we support is in his 20's and is soon to be joined by a gentleman in his 40's. They both use a wheelchair and require support with personal care, medicine administration and moving and handling. The young man loves his activities and regular visits a circus school to go on the swings, he loves trying new things. With the new gentleman joining us a big part of your work will be finding the things he enjoys doing and helping him try new hobbies. These hobbies and our location mean we sometimes need a driver, but this isn't an essential part of this role.
Have a look at the additional information attached created by the people we support, this will give you an idea of what the people we support want from you.
Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns. We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.
One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
