As part of our team at Tameside Community Outreach, you'll work one-to-one with service users as well as in group settings, preparing their support plans and gaining a full understanding of their needs and concerns as well as encouraging involvement in group activities. You will be helping them with everything from their benefits to booking medical appointments, you'll need to love talking to people with different needs, be interested in helping them and possess a deep level of empathy, understanding and patience. As part of our group provision we have a small team of volunteers who you will be responsible for supervising and offering guidance to.
We're looking for a Support Worker who knows how to build close relationships and gain people's trust quickly. You don't need any formal qualifications as full training will be given, although some experience in a similar role would be a big advantage. What is essential that you have an awareness of mental health problems and can bring with you the flexibility to work shift patterns which will include some weekends.
