Support Workers and Team Leaders Required for Preston PR3 and PR4

We are looking for Support Worker and Team Leaders for our 5 Beds home in LA6 Supporting 8-18yrs with BESD


£26,800 to £29,700

Support Worker (£9.42 per hour plus sleeps)

Team Leader £10.63 per hour plus sleeps)

Sleep in rate £78 (10 per month)

Hours/Shifts 40 hours per week working on a 2 days on and 4 days off- Start of shift at 7:30 work till 11 then sleeps are shared out on rota for those on duty so it IS fair for all

Example Week 1 Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday Week 2 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Support Worker Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for young people through:
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare and running a home (cooking, cleaning etc)
  • Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
  • Meeting the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people
  • Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate ways of dealing with problems
  • Helping young people gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding them when they should have recognition
  • Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and updated as appropriate to reflect their changing needs

Responsibilities of a Team Leader

  • Ensuring shifts are planned with Residential Support Workers, to take the lead on shift and be responsible for the events on the shift
  • To ensure that all risks are safely managed in line with the company policies and procedures
  • To communicate effectively with the team of staff coming onto shift ensuring that a thorough account of your shifts events has taken place
  • To provide written reports and documentation that truly reflects the progress of the YP for planning meetings/reviews
  • To set up, co-ordinate and review the children's files, Care plans, Risk Assessments, Behaviour Management Plans, Health Care Documentation, Agreements and Incentives
  • To undertake any training that is deemed appropriate to your position
  • To attend staff meetings and be a positive role model to the children at their meetings
  • To be able to address standards of behaviours from children, in a calm non-confrontational and constructive manner.


  • Key Skills required:
  • Hold Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care or equivalent qualification
  • At least 2 years supporting 8-18s with EBD and challenging behaviour (Team Leader)
  • Ability to provide a consistent and structured approach to the care and support you provide
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience working with children and young adults with challenging behaviour
  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence and be prepared to drive as part of the role
