Due to recent expansion in our services, we are looking to recruit more staff to support a friendly group of 18 people of different ages who live in our supported Living Service in Bath.
The people we support enjoy a variety of different activities such as swimming, going to the cinema, meals out, bowling, wrestling, shopping, discos, baking, art & crafts and spending time with their friends and family.
The people we support are deaf or have dual sensory loss and have learning disabilities, mental health support or autism, so we offer support with communication, developing independent living skills such as managing money, attending college, cooking, running their home & shopping. People also want support to develop friendships and accessing the wider community. We would like staff to support people to develop their own support plans using person centred approaches so they can live fulfilled and empowered lives, being involved in all aspects of their care and support working towards achieving positive outcomes and realising their potential.
Communication is a basic human need. Yet most of us know someone who struggles to communicate through hearing loss. It can cause substantial harm to friendships, family relationships, confidence, employability, mental health and life chances.
Action on Hearing Loss (formerly the RNID) is the UK’s largest charity for the 11 million people in the UK who confront deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss every day. Established in 1911, we help people to take control of their lives and live the life they choose, removing the barriers standing in their way. We give people support and care, develop technology and treatments, and campaign for equality.
We champion the value of difference and equality and celebrate our diverse and inclusive workforce. We actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from BAME backgrounds or who are deaf or hard of hearing. With almost 20% of our employees having a disability we proudly hold Disability Confident Leader status and guarantee an interview for disabled applicants meeting the minimum essential criteria.
