Would you like to finish work each day knowing that you have made a difference?
We are looking for a positive, compassionate and caring Support Worker to work within our Outreach service in Oxford city and Abingdon.
You will be responsible and involved in the everyday life of the people that we support, making sure that they are fully involved when it comes to receiving the support that they all need and want.
We support a large number of people throughout Oxford City and Abingdon. The majority of the people that we support in these services are fairly independent and need a guiding hand in their everyday endeavors. This means the support that you provide could range from helping with shopping, managing their tenancy agreement, assisting with appointments right through to days out, trips to the seaside or even a theme park! What we need is a confident advocate and source of Support for these individuals so that they can lead the lives that they choose.
Although this is a community based role you don't need to drive. There are excellent public transport links throughout Oxford City and we will even pay for your bus pass if travelling by public transport. This is ideal for drivers too because sometimes adequate parking in Oxford can be hard to find!
We put the people who we support at the heart of what we do. We make sure that everyone is as equally involved with the recruitment process as our very own recruitment team. If you look at the pink box titled "additional information" you'll see some information about some of the people that we support.
As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!)and evenings. The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts,we also understand that you'll have your own commitments and will try to factor this into our rota's.
As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we want to hear from you. This role has a unique set of challenges, but our award winning training will ensure that you are the best Support Worker that you can be,whether you have lots of experience or are just starting out in your career.
This position is based in Oxford City and Abingdon.
An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
