In our supported living service in Easingwold, three young people live together with the support of an enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff. We would like this to include you, if you are looking for a rewarding, fun and valued job in social care.
These individuals are active, fairly independent in many areas of their lives, with an on-going need for support if they are to truly reach their potential throughout their lives. They require prompts for support around personal care, taking medication but more than anything they want to live an independent and happy life.
They have a wide range of interests which include horse-riding, disco nights, working in various day centre environments, sport, swimming, music and eating delicious food! Going on an active holiday is something they enjoy every year, so it would be great if you want to support them next time around. Looking after their own home and garden, their vehicles, is also what they are learning to do.
The families of these fantastic young people are incredible too and play a huge part in their life, and the life of the house as a whole. We need someone who is happy to talk with the family and keep them updated with everything that is going on in their lives.
Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts. We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.
One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
