Support Worker - Buxton

Quattro Healthcare are recruiting on behalf of their client based in Buxton, Norfolk for a Support Worker to join their team on a full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small and personable team and work in an environment that is fun, creative and positive.

The position is for day-staff, with both short and long days available. The successful candidate will be assisting service users with a range of learning disabilities, including Autism and Aspergers Syndrome.

Job Role:

As a support worker, you will be responsible for supporting service users with their goals based within their home environments and local community. Activities of support vary from daily living skills and the teaching of independent life skills, to assistance with accessing community based activities such as going to college, work placements and other social and leisure activities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Helping Service Users to maintain all aspects of their domestic lives.
• Facilitating socialisation and social activities e.g. visiting family/friends, walks, cinema/theatre, meals out.

- Driving residents to and from activities.

• Monitoring progress and recording daily notes onto the Ipad Log.
• Liaise with families, friends, advocates, external agencies and the management team to provide a consistent approach that meets the individual needs of each service user.
• To empathise and actively listen in a sensitive manner accessing appropriate additional support where necessary.
• To ensure that service users maintain their independence, privacy and high standard of living.

Essential Skills, Experience & Attitude:

• Minimum 6 months of experience in working as a Support Worker/Carer.

- Due to the responsibilities of the role, being a driver with a car would be advantageous.

• An understanding of the needs of adults with learning disabilities who are vulnerable within society.
• Able to undertake safe manual handling practices including possessing current practical manual handling training and certification.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Observant and sensitive to a Service User's needs.
• Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of food hygiene/manual handling/health & safety standards and practices.
• A current Enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS.
