Support Worker - Belper

Posted 9 March by Mencap Ended

Do you support Derby County FC? Do you enjoy socialising? If you answer yes then please read on as you'll be a great match for our service!

We support a group of 5 friends in Belper, who have a learning disability and live in a support living block of flats. Each person we support has their own flat within this block and live independently. We are looking to grow our team of enthusiastic, fun honest and reliable support workers to promote this independent living.

The people we support are aged between 35 - 75 and are very independent and active. They require prompts for support around personal care, taking medication but more than anything they want to live an independent and happy life. They have many hobbies from being a season ticket holder for Derby County FC, socialising with friends in their flats, travelling to visit family or even just having dinner as a group.

Have a look at the additional information attached about the people we support, this will give you an idea of what they want from you.

Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.

One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
