Manage the throughput of work via a duty system that includes telephone enquiries,
emails into the team mailboxes and direct referrals via the Social Services client

Lead, prioritise and manage incoming work referred into the team via the Social
Services client record system and to work autonomously to complete tasks set out .
Scrutinize referrals and refer back to Social Workers/CCAs when information is
missing, incorrect or unclear, ensuring referrals are only progressed when they meet
the required standard.
Liaison and negotiation on behalf of the citizen with contracted providers, support
networks, and other resources regarding the package of care, ensuring the agreed
package meets the individuals needs and within the allocated budget. Only referring
to senior support worker those issues where agreement cannot be reached with the
council or with local providers - for example where it appears that support needs
cannot be met by the personal budget allocated.
Set up the planned service(s) according to the authorised support plans and
maintain the service within the allocated personal budget for each person.
Within the scheme of delegation approve changes that incur extra expenditure of a
personal budget referring up to the Senior Support Brokers or Team Manager as
Knowing when to alert and where appropriate investigate and report to line manager
issues arising from the citizen's use of local contracts and providers - for example,
apparent failures to meet national or locally determined quality or performance
Ensure that all actions, decisions and discussions are appropriately recorded,
maintained and updated, and written reports produced in accordance with Council
and ASSHH policies.
Identifying optimum solutions to meeting needs in order to promote independence,
positive risk management and the principles of personalisation and discuss with the
Senior Support Broker.
Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders including service manager,
team managers, Social workers, provider organisations and commissioning.
