Support Assistant - SEMH School - Secondary age

A school in the Swanwick area of Southampton are looking for Support Assistants for a full time permanent position. The school cater for 11-19 year olds that have a ECHP of Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The pupils can display challenging behaviour and may sometimes require invention. Many of the pupils are in a care home and the school only cater for up to 20 pupils. The majority of the work is 1:1 or 2:1 to manage the behaviour of the pupils but quite often they will be take offsite in small groups for activities.

You will need to work full time as the hour would be 8:45-16:15 from Monday to Friday. Experience working with similar children or adults is essential. If you are trained in Team Teach this would be an advantage however not essential as we can provide that training. Many of there pupils have had a difficult childhood being in care and potential trouble with the police so they require a strong role model, someone proactive and they can trust.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
