My client, a multi £B pioneer of innovative technologies into the aerospace, defence and space industries are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Operations Manager to work on a number of major and cutting edge technological systems within the Space industry.

Your new role will manage the supply of software driven solutions from your suppliers that will be used in advanced space projects.  Tasked with delivering specific projects with a development and manufacturing lifecycle that takes several years, your projects will be highly complex and will be budgeted at several hundred millions of pounds.

As a key and influential figure, you will supply chain manage 4 - 5 major software suppliers who are very niche to the space industry targeting the delivery of technical milestones against project / programme timescales.  You will be the interface between suppliers, internal stakeholders, senior management and wider project teams.

You will coordinate and represent the procurement/supply chain specialism to your programmes and will manage all the deliverables to ensure on-time delivery is achieved on-cost and to required quality. 

Your role will coordinate all supply management functions that will be involved in the delivery process (commodity management, supply chain, quality, supplier development management, etc).

Your role as Supply Chain Operations Manager for Space Software's will have a number of key elements which include;

Stakeholder Management - Your role will be integrated into Projects and you will be a senior supply chain figure that will ensure on-time supplier delivery to meet project milestones.

Managing Supply Chain within Projects and managing suppliers and internal groups to ensure effective delivery.

The driving of resolution for issues within the supply chain

Looking at supplier KPI's and review if they are fit-for-purpose.  Where KPI's are not fit-for-purpose or non-existing, then your role will be instil new KPI's or implement them from scratch and the subsequent management of these.

This role is a non people management position in terms of direct reports.  It is a role managing projects through to delivery that requires above and beyond stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Your new role will involve UK and European travel.

The successful applicant will be an influential figure with previous experience delivering software driven solutions.  Ideally this experience will be relative to Space driven software solutions, however aerospace software (similar) will also apply.

The successful candidate will be a highly competent supply chain manager with experience delivering solutions against very large scale and complex projects and their respective milestones. 

You will possess a proven track record of supplier management and performance measurement that has consistently delivered projects on-time.

You will demonstrate exceptional project management skills in terms of supply chain.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate experience of working on and delivering projects from start to finish, particularly with projects that have a long lifecycle ((i.e. 5+ years).

Ideally you will already possess experience working with niche and specialist suppliers of software solutions to the Space industry, however aerospace or similar to this will also be sufficient.
