Supply Chain Development Engineer - ElectroMechanical Components
Superb opportunity for a highly innovative and talented Supply Chain Engineering specialist to take on the responsibility for developing new & existing global suppliers for a wide range of mechanical and electronic components used for the manufacture of our ultra-precision metrology equipment.
SALARY: Circa £40,000 base

THE OPPORTUNITY: Supply Chain Development Engineer
Working as part of our Purchasing team, this role is an exciting hands-on opportunity. The Supplier Development Engineer will be tasked with looking at developing new & existing global suppliers with the aim of reducing manufacturing costs, reducing business risk and improving quality in line with business goals.
This role will make significant contributions to the design and development of our next generation metrology products.
Candidates will be expected to undertake some international travel.
THE ROLE WILL APPEAL TO CANDIDATES WHO CAN:
·Manage the qualification of new components, provide technical support and provide auditing to ensure product/process conformance
·Interface with the purchasing team to prioritise supplier development needs by component to improve cost competitiveness or supply constraints
·Research external market information and up-and-coming entrepreneurial companies to identify potential new products, sources and suppliers
·Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes
·Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capability and fulfilment
·Ensure suppliers are able to meet requirements for ISO 9001:2008 and other applicable customer and internal system and reputation requirements
·Provide technical expertise and leadership to source and develop suppliers with respect of technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics & delivery
·Assist with NPD launches, working with suppliers to ensure key milestones are achieved
PERSON REQUIREMENTS: Supply Chain Development Engineer
·Degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, Physics or a similar technical discipline
·Experience of working within the precision engineering components sector
·Experience of working with a global supply chain
·Strong project management & administration skills
·Passionate about all aspects of new technologies
·Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the drive & desire to source excellent products
·Great communication & interpersonal skills as this role works closely across the whole supply chain, cross functional internal teams and customers
·Potential for career progression
