Supply Chain and Logistics Manager

We are currently recruiting on behalf of the client for a Supply Chain and Logistics Manager based in Billingham.

The successful applicant will have the following duties

  • Develop and manage the plans for production, inventory and logistics to meet customer requirements and maximise plant output and efficiency
  • Develop and manage the plans for procurement of raw materials, spares & other consumables to meet requirements and estimated output
  • Maintain the efficient management of warehouse and logistics activities ensuring cost effectiveness and compliance with regulations
  • Ensure all suppliers operate to correct SHE and industry standards
  • Develop an annual safety improvement plan covering the supply chain, including risk assessments & route analysis
  • Ensure that an emergency response network exists for all hazardous products
  • Identify and deliver improvement opportunities through the use of KPI’s
  • Ensure maintenance & shutdowns are planned to minimise disruption

Candidates should have the following knowledge and skills

  • The ability to confidentially and effectively communicate and liaise with staff, contractors and customers at all levels
  • Knowledge of the current importing and exporting material legislation and the requirements e.g., DGSA, IMDG, IATA
  • Knowledge of IT systems particularly SAP& EDI
  • Knowledge of SHE requirements, legislation & systems

Applicants must have the following experience and qualifications

  • Plant scheduling
  • Procurement and warehousing
  • Previous experience gained in a production control/logistics environment
  • Previous experience using SAP and EDI would be an advantage and
  • Experience of working in a similar role in chemical or automotive industries in a batch process environment
  • Applicants must hold an A level or equivalent qualification in a related subject
