The Supplier Quality Engineer, based in Cambridgeshire will be responsible for leading & driving continuous improvement and development a global supply base through the deployment of best practices in quality! Travel will be required - long haul to USA/Malaysia/Japan - around 30%
In addition to the development of supplier relationships, the role will focus on raising supplier ownership for their quality (self- assurance) and to support cross-functional communication and co-operation between Procurement, Quality Assurance, Logistics, R&D and Production.
Main Supplier Quality Engineer responsibilities:
*Planning and implementing preventive techniques in manufacturing (APQP & FMEA & PPAP)
*Ensuring supplier have necessary processes to deliver against design and test specifications
*Excellent fault diagnostic skills - route cause analysis, 8D, ect.
*Excellent data understanding and reporting - SPC, Capability studies, Performance monitoring
*Strong track record in developing suppliers to a point of self-sustaining.
*Competent in design for manufacture (DFM) - able to drive design decisions where manufacturability deliverables need to be repeatable.
*Ability to create and present reports to management.
*Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
*Able to examine and interpret validation reports, to determine compliance against requirements.
Candidates for this supplier Quality Engineer role should have significant relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and will have an in depth understanding of tools such as six sigma and Lean manufacturing. Experience of auditing to ISO standards is essential and relevant qualifications ideal.
