Supplier Quality Development Professional

Our client is a very successful, rapidly growing engineering company, based in Peterlee. Due to their expansion, they are now looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Development Professional to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and realization of supplier audits in line with central strategy and according to the VDA 6.3 and PSA rules
  • Escalation and solution of issues related to the supply chain (suppliers) with target to assure the serial deliveries for final customers
  • Management of new components release process (component PPAPs management)
  • Cooperation on supplier evaluation process in cooperation with central PUR organization and CoC PUR organization
  • Managing evidence of capabilities study results for SC/CC suppliers characteristic
  • Managing quality supplier related internal procedures according to KB/GT rules and ISO TS (IATF) rules
  • Managing keeping KB/GT KPI targets - supported with monthly reporting of fulfillment - if KPI’s not fulfilled set-up the correct countermeasures
  • Defining semi-product quality specifications and requirements, and qualifying and approving potential suppliers, in cooperation with purchasing department
  • Defining quality planning of semi-products, and conducts inspection and approval
  • Conducting workshops at suppliers
  • Constantly monitoring quality performance and liaising with defined suppliers to keep quality standards on a high level
  • Initiating escalation process for qualification, if appropriate
  • May provide advice for suppliers on design of semi-products
  • Supporting complaint management regarding supplier problems
  • Performing regular reporting of audit, project and workshop results as well as local quality reports
  • Managing concessions for suppliers for whom the company have not received products within the exact specification

Skills/experience required:

  • Must have a quality management or technical qualification orequivalent
  • Will ideally have 3 years’ previous experience in a similar role
  • Must have knowledge of automotive industry norms such as ISO TS (IATF) rules
  • Must have knowledge of the following quality standards/methods: FMEA, 8D and PPAP
  • Will ideally have knowledge of audit management VDA 6.3 rules
  • Must have excellent English language skills and be computer literate


  • Must be willing to travel worldwide to visit suppliersfor about 40% of the time(for which expenses will be paid)
  • Must be able to return to site with the problem description and be confident enough to explain/ follow up the solution to that problem
  • Must be an ambitious self-starter with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Must have an analytical approach to their daily work
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and Intercultural skills to enable him/her to work all over the world
  • Must be reliable and trustworthy

A salary is on offer of between £35,000 and £40,000, plus a contributory private pension.
