Role Substation Engineer (DNO) Liverpool /Manchester (North West)
Location North West
Package £30,000 - £36,000 + on call, OT, bonus, pension, private health, van, share scheme, 36 days holiday
Rare opportunity to join on of the UK's leading engineering companies as a Substation Engineer. The company have just signed several multimillion £ contracts with a number of DNO's, so it's a great time to get involved if you're looking for something long term with a reputable company.
You'll be working in primary substations to start off with, so experience at 33kV and above would be ideal, you'll be getting involved with wiring & looming, adjusting tap changers and fitting HV panels. As different contracts come up with various DNO's your role will vary to keep it interesting, for example your work could include work on open bus bars and transformers as you progress.
If you haven't got much wiring experience but have a lot of HV fitting experience in a substation environment, I'd still be keen to hear from you. There could be a fitter role open for the right person.
It would be great if you have worked on a DNO network in some capacity, even better if you have current authorisations / keys. Progression opportunities are strong and look like this for the right people > Substation Engineer > Sub Supervisor > Authorised Person (AP).
The package includes a competitive base salary of £30k - £36k DOE. You'll also get a van which includes personal use (optional), 7% bonus worth an extra £2,100 - £2,520 per annum, private healthcare, share options and loads of overtime if you want it. I was speaking to an engineer who I placed last year and he said with the over time he takes home nearer £50k+ so there's plenty of scope to kick your earnings up if you want to. Oh and you get 36 days holiday as well.
The process consist of a brief telephone interview and a face to face meeting with a Senior Field Engineer then you are given a decision that week. They are moving fast on this so the quicker you get your application in the better. First name in the hat and all that.
Ideal location for this one is anywhere in the North West due to the current DNO contract that runs for the next three years.

Look forward to speaking with you soon.
