Strategic Category Lead (Technology - Digital)

Up to - £437.95 PAYE or £550 Umbrella Per Day

* Input and develop world class, market leading Technology category strategy in their sub-category, across Central Government (CG) and the Wider Public Sector (WPS)
* Lead and influence customers and category team with in depth market knowledge acting as a source of insight and advice to customers, working with them to define optimal commercial strategies that deliver long term value and efficiencies
* Effectively engage with customers, building trust in order to drive compliance and influence behaviours and drive change in service and performance
* Demonstrate added value by creating a deep understanding of customer requirements in area of responsibility
* Management of customer relationships to deliver efficiencies through the Category framework agreements/Commercial Contracts and specific initiatives identifying key stakeholders at departmental/organisational level, establishing communication plans including holding stakeholder forums for key areas of spend
* Exploit commercial intelligence and insights to understand the supplier landscape and engage the market to inform the buying process
* Ability to use lean efficiency skills , identifying business process change and reshaping customer End to End Procure to Pay processes
* Model end to end supply chains identifying Total Cost of Ownership across multi tier suppliers
* Improve supplier performance and performance of the whole supply chain using for example supplier associations and lean value chain methods
* Drive Supplier Relationship Management to improve performance across the whole supply chain including identification and delivery of savings initiatives and innovation opportunities
* Lead Category Boards within Government to ensure a sub-category solution remains upper quartile
* Liaise with stakeholders and customers at a variety of levels to present/promote the CCS Office Supplies category products/procurement strategy via working groups, customer meetings, exhibitions and events
* Build and own risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks. Issues are fed back into Category strategies and where appropriate into the Supplier Relationship Management process
* Make a significant contribution to the continuous improvement of the category team's performance to customers (service, savings and spend)
* Design and construct best in market contractual documentation

Person Specification - Essential Characteristics:

Successful candidates will be strong Category leaders who can lead highly effective teams and influence relationships. Innovative with a focus on achieving strong commercial outcomes, you will play an important role in transforming the way the Category function in the Commercial Delivery Directorate operates.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate capability against the following criteria:


* Experience of leading and delivering significant organisational change and complex projects/programmes in a strategic procurement environment

* An experienced and motivational manager with demonstrable business acumen

* Extensive category expertise and experience in a senior role

* Ability to lead, engage and manage people, creating a high performance culture in order to deliver against stretch targets both during and following a significant period of change.

* Track record of innovating in order to translate business strategy into deliverable business solutions

* Outstanding senior stakeholder engagement and influencing skills coupled with the ability to formulate and harness innovative ideas and initiatives

* Senior customer and supplier relationship management experience within a commercial environment

* Experience of leading the development, implementation and delivery of strategic high value contracts for the supply of goods and services
