Strategic Business Analyst - Business Planning & Governance

Epson are seeking to recruit a Strategic Business Analyst reporting into the Business Planning & Governance Manager.

As part of the European Marketing Department you will have an opportunity to support the team by analysing and interpreting data around purchasing behaviour, printing habits drivers and inhibitors of print usage, consumption patterns, implications of trends with particular focus in the supplies business.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, this role will support the operational business, the annual business planning process and its quarterly reviews, the implementation and tracking of sales KPIs.

Also the role will assist in projects including the definition and implementation of Mid-term plan process, ad-hoc analysis and other activities as required to enable the EMD to drive revenues in, and profit through the business

This role is based out of our European offices at Westside, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic analysis:

  • Build improved understanding and visibility of the risk and opportunity factors impacting supplies usage
  • Monitor, analyse and model these factors, to assist the business in pre-empting or taking advantage of the identified risks and opportunities
  • Develop analysis, simulation models and reporting based a variety of data sources (including sales, key performance metrics, forecasts, etc.), to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and opportunities. Undertake detailed analysis and document detailed recommendations in a clear, concise and structured way
  • Create regular and ad hoc summaries and analyses of customer supplies use, and communicate insightful information to internal stakeholders to assist them to better understand and act upon the information
  • Independently and in collaboration with team members, undertake data analysis and reporting on cross-business data sets to identify trends, observations and business needs
  • Work with other teams to monitor and analyse competitor strategies, leveraging knowledge to develop predictions about their future strategies
  • To support the implementation and tracking of the governance's Sales KPIs and related metrics for effective sales minus management
  • Business planning:
  • To coordinate the annual business planning and quarterly review operations in co-operation with BUs, demand planning, Local Sales Offices and Finance departments and senior management for all Business Plan and Forecast cycles
  • To provide support to all relevant sales & marketing teams in the business planning cycle activities in order to maintain appropriate consistency between plan and actuals on key dimensions (percentage stack/usages of pots/channels)
  • To assist in the definition, collection of requirements and implementation of a structured Mid-Term planning process,
  • To support the business planning platform development and maintenance to maximise performance and efficiencies
  • To drive business planning processes evolution and continuous improvement
  • To support the implementation and tracking of the governance's Sales KPIs and related metrics for effective sales minus management

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • A solid understanding of data analysis principles, experience of working with stakeholders to understand and develop analysis requirements, and with the knowledge required to devise new ways to better exploit data, identify insights and present findings in stimulating and actionable ways
  • Proven record of achievement in a data analysis and reporting context, including the development and production of regular and ad hoc reports
  • Highly numerate, analytical and logical, with attention to detail and the ability to systematically break apart complex problems
  • Proficient user of analysis tools, advanced Excel user with experience of building models and simulations
  • Presentation skills developed using a variety of formats and for a variety of contexts
  • Ability to work together with colleagues to pool skills, ideas and resources to achieve objectives
  • Creativity in questioning or challenging current assumptions and ways of working, and identifying practical changes and improvements, keen to find new ways of doing things
  • Drive for results - the ability to find solutions that are fit for purpose, and to go "the extra mile" to achieve tasks, objectives and targets
  • A degree level qualification involving data analysis (in lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience)
  • Experience or an active interest in data visualization techniques would be beneficial, as would experience of facilitating meetings.
