Stores Assistant with SAP experience required for a large manufacturing organisation based near Maidstone, Kent.

Working independently the Stores Assistant will provide an effective service at goods inwards and the stores counter. The job holder must exhibit sound knowledge of all stock held in the central stores and associated areas, and demonstrate competency in the use of SAP MM (materials management, and SAP PM (planned maintenance)

Additionally there must be effective communication with colleagues, customers and suppliers in ensuring parts are available for effective shut planning and work order execution.

Candidates should have a good level of general education, and stores / parts experience gained from an engineering / manufacturing environment.

Stores Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Locate and issue stores held stock items and other items as may be required that are kept in central stores and any other related areas
  • Receive goods from suppliers that are to be kept in the central stores, unloading as necessary using appropriate equipment
  • Check accuracy of deliveries for both quantity and description and liaise with suppliers to rectify any issues
  • Update SAP with goods receipt information and issues made using appropriate materials movements
  • Place stock items in appropriate locations within the central stores
  • Stock checks and stock reconciliations
  • Daily physical inventory checks, update the status of stock on SAP daily
  • Operate stores mechanical handling equipment in a competent and qualified manner
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and housekeeping in the central stores
  • Remove and dispose of waste material such as packaging and scrapped or returned goods
  • Issue and visually check lifting equipment and loan tools kept in the central stores
