We are looking for an experienced Food / Convenience Store Manager
Location: Chelmsford / Braintree
Salary: £32k - £36k DOE
Term: Permanent, Full Time
To co-ordinate the day-to-day operations of the Food Store in accordance with the Society policy, Co-operative Values & Principles and in line with Society strategy, to agreed deadlines and within the budgetary constraints while maintaining the required operational standards.
Accountability & Impact
The post-holder is responsible for driving operational standards up and maintaining the required level of operational standards while maximising sales and profit, minimising cost and improving the overall customer experience.
Reporting directly to the Head of Food Stores, the post-holder has full profit & loss responsibility for the store while co-ordinating all operational aspects of the store on a day-to-day basis. These will include but are not exhaustive:
Staffing: To ensure that the store is adequately staffed to provide efficient operation of the store while operating within budgetary and legislative constraints.
Customer Service: To motivate all store personnel, including concessions, to achieve high levels of customer service and to ensure that all customer complaints are dealt with quickly and effectively.
Staff Development: To identify staff development needs and in conjunction with the Human Resources department address the needs through training and coaching.
Compliance: To ensure that the Society’s policies in relation to Health & Safety, Trading Standards, security procedures, store procedures are implemented effectively instore.
Stock Loss: To implement Society procedures effectively to manage shrinkage and stockholding levels within budgetary constraints, while maximising availability.
Communications: To ensure all relevant information is communicated to all store staff to ensure staff are kept fully up-to-date on Society business.
To lead the store staff through demonstrating Co-operatives Values & Principles and Co-operative working in performing the day-to-day duties.
The post-holder will need to be able to use their knowledge of the Food Stores business to solve problems and generate new ideas.
Skills & Knowledge
- Experience of Food Store operations.
- Team Player.
- Self-motivated and flexible in the approach to work.
- Good communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Working knowledge of Co-operative Values & Principles.
- An understanding of Profit & Loss accounts.
