Stock and Margin Assistant (Retail - Finance) - RB5

Salary: Up to £26,000 (dependent upon experience)

Location: Manchester

What you'll do:

Reporting into the Stock and Margin Accountant, you’ll assist in the monthly reporting of retail margin and stock at branch level, coordinating stock takes and analysing variances / anomalies. Reporting on the operational business margins accurately and assisting in the reporting and analysis of over the counter (OTC) margin, you’ll be responsible for preparing the budgets and forecast for all margin streams and producing reports showing relevant variances.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate stock takes with third party supplier, branches, and branch support, including tracking counts, invoicing and query resolution
  • Assist the Stock and Margin Accountant in the preparation and reporting of the month end stock estimate at branch level, including wastage, leakage, rebates and the production of any other reports and analysis
  • Prepare reports as required for the Operations team, flagging issues in branch reporting
  • Assist the Stock and Margin Accountant in the monthly reporting of OPD and Prison margins
  • Calculate and analyse the OTC margin and prepare reports for usage by Commercial
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets for stock, leakage, waste and purchases, flagging variances where required
  • Investigating branch level margins to analyse variances to budget
  • Ownership of the stock price file, liaising with the Pricing Assistant to ensure accuracy
  • Cross cover with the Pricing Assistant to ensure that the pricing in the systems is up to date and accurate at all times, including in depth knowledge of all aspects of the pricing processes
  • Ad hoc queries, process improvements, projects and team cover as required

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Part qualified accountant or equivalent (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, AAT)
  • Good commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent Excel, communication and negotiation skills
