Salary: £28,900 plus benefits and Excellent Career Progression Opportunities
This year we are delighted to offer a number of new graduate opportunities focussed on business / commercial disciplines. These programmes are predominantly within our Enterprise divisions (Telecoms, Contracting, Rail and Utilities), and will offer you an exciting opportunity to develop and hone your experience in a commercial, finance, telecommunications or business development role.
Why join SSE?
As one of the UK's largest energy companies, we're always keen to meet great talent who can support SSE's growth in the power, telecommunication and utilities industries, and our commitment to the UK's digital and power agendas. As the largest generator of energy through renewable sources, a market leader in the electric vehicle (EV) evolution and a leading telecoms network provider, we can offer you the opportunity to make a real difference for our customers and the communities in which we operate.
What will I do on the programmes?
Depending on the programme you choose, you could be involved in financial analysis, pricing and decision support, commercial and risk modelling, and multiple live projects across the UK. Within Telecoms you'll spend time developing your skills in developing online digital sales channels and creating customer acquisition plans. In Contracting, Utilities and Rail there is opportunity to become involved in all commercial aspects both pre and post-contract. Joining our Commercial team, you'll help support projects/bids, ensuring contracts are being delivered as agreed, supporting contract negotiations for new business deals and final accounting completed works.
All roles will likely involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage.
Due to our size and diversity, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Learning and Development Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.
What do I need to join?
For this programme, you'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in a numerical, economics, finance, commercial, legal or other business-related discipline. Consideration will also be given to students with an engineering or STEM qualification for some roles.
We'd love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for business, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
You should have an interest in the energy, business-to-business, contracting, rail, utilities and telecommunications industries and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us - as we are with you.
If you want to work in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family. For us it's not just about being good at what you do - it's about enjoying what you do, too so we'll encourage and empower you to be imaginative, share your great ideas, and do work that you can be proud of.
