Are you a Speech & Language graduate?
Do you want to build classroom based experience?
Do you want to work with an experienced Speech & Language Therapist?
This is a school North of Birmingham. They have an excellent track record and are OFSTED outstanding. There is a strong and varied team here with a well established Speech & Language Therapist. Pupils have a variety of conditions including Autism, speech and language difficulties and emotional and behavioural challenges. This is a single form entry school with good Pupil Premium funding that is used for extra activities including speech therapy, 1:1 support and physical activity.
An increase in communication difficulties being experienced by new pupils has warranted the need for an increase in headcount within Speech and communication therapy. The focus here will be within the classroom on curriculum based activities as well as specific individual therapeutic support. The leadership team are looking at staffing and support for the next academic year and are in need of immediate extra support until the end of this academic year. You spend time as a teaching assistant within one class and will also work alongside the Speech and Language Therapist, initially supporting a small group of students on a 1:1 basis. You will report lesson and activity progress and contribute ideas and planning elements.
The school is looking for a positive and dynamic Speech and Language graduate who wants to gain experience within the classroom and can make a positive contribution to the speech and language team. You will may have classroom experience already through paid or voluntary work and be able to work autonomously with each student. You will be able to prove your ability to encourage, develop and support pupils in a creative and passionate way. Your degree and experience so far will be a great asset in contributing to this outstanding school.
