The desired Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be an accomplished graduate who has previous experience working with SEN pupils. You must have a natural passion for education and will have a keen interest to develop your career working with children who possess complex language difficulties. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital to the job and any knowledge of non-verbal language such as Makaton or PECS will be extremely advantageous. The Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be friendly and amiable with a warm nature.
The main responsibility of the Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be to provide support in individual and small group sessions. With the help of the SENCO, you will play a lead role in identifying communication difficulties and will help devise structured programs to assist all of the pupils positive progression through their development.
