Specifications Technologist - Food Manufacturing
Location: Leicestershire
Salary: £28-35,000 + benefits
As a member of the R&D development team you will be responsible in supporting maintenance and updates of Ingredient, Finished Product and Process specifications for the complete company Food portfolio.
The main purpose of the role is to be a specification expert and support the core business through best practice consult with interaction with internal R&D functions including but not limited to quality, regulatory, food safety.
The incumbent will also support specific assigned project components for the team covering work streams ranging from full autonomous ownership through to transactional ad hoc delivery.
The role:
Acts as Subject Matter Expert for Ingredient, Finished Product and Process specifications across Europe and South Africa Foods
Manages specifications portfolio in global systems and ensures those comply with applicable internal and external procedure updates and audit requirements. Ensures full approval by all functions
Consult to Internal functions to solve discrepancies when needed
Build and roll out best practices to enable specification creation via improved knowledge and expertise for the wider innovation team. Proactively identify efficiencies and collaborate to leverage.
Be the key contact that provides any generic specification overview & process flow trainings & presentations
The job holder is expected to autonomously operate and contribute to the wider business success as a data owner.
Contribute to the wider brand agenda by planning, organising, executing and communicating assigned specific project components under guidance of the line manager whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and integrity
The person:
First Degree or equivalent in a Science or Engineering related discipline
Minimum 2 to 5 years’ previous experience of Specifications in an R&D department in Food Manufacturing and Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment
Understanding of specification & technical documentation management
Ideally experience of both UK and European food legislation

Understanding/appreciation of the broader internal and external business environment.
Interpersonal skills with ability to influence with integrity through persuasive communication to drive for results at a more senior level within R&D
Ability to balance competing priorities without losing momentum and manage uncertainty and complexity in fast evolving FMCG environments
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment (multi-national, matrixed organization)
Analyses complex problems to find actionable pragmatic solutions and constructive action plan
