Under the supervision and direction of a registered Allied Health Professional (AHP)
within the forensic directorate, you will be expected to use technical and creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible client-centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties and have offending behaviours. This will involve supervising and working with patients on a one to one basis or within groups, within the local community or the person's home or within a secure ward environment. A good working knowledge and understanding of Allied Health Professions roles (Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Dietetics), mental health conditions and risk assessment and risk management is required for this post. Good communication skills are essential to enable development of therapeutic relationships with patients as is the ability to be able to grade activities to suit the skill levels of different individuals. You will support patients working through the transition process between secure ward environments to the community. You will implement and evaluate AHP interventions for patients in activities related to their treatment programme. There will be a requirement to undertake general departmental activities and duties. It is essential that you have a Formal technical qualification, e.g. City & Guilds or Health & Social Care NVQ level 3 and Experience and knowledge of working within a secure environment and knowledge of risk assessment and risk management. The shift pattern for this post is 8.30am - 4.30pm. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
