Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA) - SEN / PMLD | Chorley

Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate or January 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent appointment)

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA) to join an outstanding SEN school in Chorley that caters for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This rewarding role is ideal for someone with experience in care, education, or therapeutic support who is committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

The Role

A caring and inclusive SEN school in Chorley is looking for a full-time Specialist TA to provide tailored support to students with complex physical, sensory, and learning needs. You will work alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a safe, stimulating, and highly personalised learning environment.

Essential Requirements & Skills

We are looking for a Specialist Teaching Assistant who has:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally PMLD, complex needs, or Autism.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or equivalent).

  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with children who have significant additional needs.

  • An understanding of communication and sensory support strategies.

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
