Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Adult Acquired Neurology

Band 6

9 months Fixed Term Contract (to cover maternity leave)

14.5 hours per week

Based at Tameside General Hospital, Ashton-under-Lyne

This post offers an exciting opportunity to work with patients with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties in a range of settings, including hospital, Acute Stroke/Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, outpatient and in clients’ homes. The successful candidate will be dysphagia trained and have experience working independently in this field. Experience/training in videofluoroscopy would be an advantage.

In the first instance we are looking for an experienced therapist to work at a Band 6 level, however, we would consider a dysphagia trained Band 5 therapist and will certainly review applications at this level. (Please note, the accompanying job description is for Band 6).

We are a very friendly department offering regular staff meetings, clinical supervision and support from more senior therapists. You will also be able to continue your professional development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic therapist, eager to develop your professional skills with an acquired neurology client group.

For further information please contact Jane Bray on .

The successful applicant will have a full UK driving licence and access to a car for community work. Appointment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance.

Wherever possible the department will give serious consideration to requests for changes to the standard working pattern associated with the contracted hours for any post.
