Specialist Public Health Nurse School Nurse

We have an exciting opportunity for a School Nurse with the Specialist Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) qualification to join the Public Health Nursing Service in Bridgnorth.

The successful applicant requires experience of working with school aged children to join the Shropshire Public Health Nursing team at an exciting time as we grow and develop our 0-19 service

This is a permanent position for 30 hours all year round and the successful candidate will be based in South East Shropshire (Bridgnorth).

Our national award winning, innovative and dynamic Public Health Nursing Team supports health and wellbeing programmes for children and young people aged 0-19 (25 SEND) in homes, educational settings and the wider community. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking team that is currently undergoing an exciting transformation as we develop innovative approaches for the delivery of a visible and accessible Public Health Nursing Service.

We are looking for a caring practitioner who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to team working and effective leadership skills.

You will be able to work in an innovative, dynamic and visionary way, supporting the team in planning, delivering and evaluating outcomes.

The Public Health Nursing Service has strong working relationships with partner agencies and is working closely with commissioners to develop and expand the service in line with local and national guidance.

Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner and within a multi-agency arena is an essential element of this role.

Shropshire are currently piloting a new way of working which involves staff working in a Safeguarding team or a Public Health team. This has the potential to be a rotational role. The successful candidate will work in the Public Health team and be responsible for the public health needs of children and young people within the South Shropshire locality with a corporate caseload. This will also involve working closely with partner agencies to meet the needs of this population.

The post holder may be expected to travel to other areas in their locality to support other members of the team.
