FULL TIME (1.0 WTE permanent) Band 7 Clinical Psychologist post in Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS, working with children with learning disabilities and neuro-developmental difficulties (LD, ASD, ADHD)
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS, for a full time permanent Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to work in Tier 3 CAMHS, taking up a role within the CAMHS Learning Disabilities Team. The post holder will offer clinical services to children and young people (aged 0-18) with LD and neuro-developmental difficulties and their families as part of a small multi-disciplinary CAMHS LD/NDD team. This team is part of a thriving Tier 3 CAMHS service working from the same base in Hammersmith. The wider team includes clinical psychologists, family therapists, specialist mental health nurses, psychotherapists and psychiatrists.
Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS is a friendly, busy, borough-located service, and operates as part of a wider three-borough CAMHS service, including Ealing and Hounslow, within West London Mental Health Trust. The post-holder will receive supervision and support from a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist and will be offering a range of therapeutic services to children with LD, neuro-developmental difficulties and linked co-morbid mental health problems. The post-holder will offer both a clinic-based service and outreach work in clients’ homes, local schools and other community settings. In the current emergency situation related to Coronavirus the team has shifted to working from home with smaller core teams covering the clinic in shifts. All staff is equipped for remote working with clients and colleagues. Depending on how the situation develops the post-holder may be required to partly work from home on a temporary basis.
The clinician will build good relationships with the local mainstream and specialist schools and also links with the local Children with Disabilities Social Services Team and other relevant agencies. S/he may offer some specialist groups to parents and will be able to work with behavioural interventions, to use modified CBT for children with LD and to think systemically about the needs of the child and young person within the context of their family and the wider system that they are part of.
We are looking for a skilled clinician who is enthusiastic and dedicated, who brings a committed interest, and a level of experience of working with children with learning disabilities and mental health/behavioural problems.
We will offer excellent CPD and support and we look forward to hearing of your interest and to discussing the post informally to start with.
