A warm and lively school in the heart of Richmond are looking to appoint a Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work with a pupil in Year 3.
The pupil has an educational healthcare plan with this the school are in of full-time support for this pupil.
The pupil has been statemented with Praders-Willi Syndrome.
The pupil is high functioning, verbal and enjoys Art and Numeracy.
You as a SEN TA will be required to work 1:1 with this pupil who suffers with a complex need. The child has a lack of awareness of diet, the child is also overeating and has a high appetite.
The pupil does need full-time support, however, the school aim to create independence, therefore the pupil will be required to work on their own accord 20% of the time.
The pupil in Year 3 enjoys Art and Numeracy, however, will require support in Literacy to bring up levels in English. With the Praders-Willi syndrome the child has ASD. Therefore you as a SEN Teaching Assistant will be required to set boundaries and implement new strategies.

The school is a 3-form entry school, graded 'Good' by Ofsted.
It has come leaps and bounds since its previous inspection which the school was graded as in special measures. The school have a good and very supportive senior leadership team, promoting and upskilling their current Teaching and support staff.
The school also offer a wide range of CPD courses to their staff and regular term events for both staff and pupils are incentivised.
Requirements for the Role:
Previous experience of SEN is vital for this role.
Good behaviour management is desirable
Previous experience supporting pupils in a mainstream setting is also vital for this role
Good Literacy and Numeracy skills
You must have recent and a minimum of six months' experience working in primary schools. This experience must be relative to this role. If you do not have this experience, we unfortunately will not be able to continue with your application.
