Sous Chef, Essex Hotel, up to £28,000

At Select Hospitality Chelmsford we are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Sous Chef.

The Role
To support and assist the Head Chef in ensuring the continuing development and delivery of the highest possible standard of food preparation and service at all times. As the Sous Chef you will be expected to deputise in the absence of the Head Chef, to make sure that standards remain constant and the kitchen team remains focused on the job at hand. You will be required to develop all of the chefs that work for you in a nurturing manner. Experience within pastry would be advantageous as well as restaurant and function experience within a hotel setting.

* Deputising for the Head Chef in his absence.
* Lead the brigade, ensuring that staff are supervised in the preparation and service of food, achieving the highest possible standards of service at all times whether for the fine dining restaurant or a banquet for up to 450 people.
* Work with the Head Chef to keep H&S records up to date and kitchen hygiene at the highest possible standards at all times.
* Provide on-the-job training for all Chefs in the Kitchen to ensure that they develop as much as possible.
