Our client is a UK leader in its chosen field and due to expansion now requires a Sourcing and Own Brand Manager to work in its Birmingham based offices. You will be used to working in a fast paced business, managing sourcing activities for an extensive product portfolio, supporting major customer channels and have experience with rebranding or own branding strategy.
As Sourcing and Own Brand Manager you will be responsible for -
Sourcing of products from a global and UK vendor base, negotiating with manufacturers to produce own brand products. In conjunction with the Category Negotiators to negotiate price, volume, delivery and procurement process end to end.
Pro-actively support the product development of packaging process with Category Directors, managing conceptual ideas through the design process through to manufactured product.
Brief external agencies for artwork and packaging.
Manage a variety of ongoing sourcing and product development projects, ensuring activities are prioritised in order to meet required time scales.
Work collaboratively with Category Management teams within the UK , being able to influence and drive category performance forward.
Assist the delivery of growth for Own Brand for all customer channels including B2B, on line and retail, maximising profitability in line with customer needs, showing a strong awareness of Low Cost Country sourcing including Near East, Far East and Emerging Markets.

It is expected that the successful Own Brand Sourcing Manager will have the following:
Proven experience of working within a similar Sourcing Manager, Product Manager, Category Manager role with 2 - 6 years’ experience at this level.
Experience of developing products from and for OEM, able to demonstrate creating successful conceptual packaging ideas, working closely with vendors to manage the design and manufacture of products.
Experience of Far East & Asia Sourcing will be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of briefing agencies with artwork and packaging requests and understanding artwork constraints etc will also give you an added advantage.
Candidates will ideally be working within Retail, Trade Wholesale or FMCG.
Ability to stand your ground and influence internal stakeholders on key category decisions that will ultimately drive the performance of sales.
Strong customer focus and customer awareness.
Willingness to travel.
