They can advise public bodies on public law, equality, FOI, investigations, irregularities, allegations of mismanagement, procurement challenges and human rights. The department continues to strive to offer market leading service in Public Law, and due to the Partners reputation and capabilities, the department is involved in many judicial reviews.
Reporting to the Partner, you will be handling cases that have legal implications for the public sector, often high-profile issues. By handling your own caseload of regulatory and public law you will work on cases that may focus on the public law principles and the grounds for judicial review, the Equality Act 2010 and human rights compliance, information law and FOI, Data Protection and confidentiality issues along with charity law. Upon the onset of the case, you will provide a statutory interpretation and some drafting of directions, regulations etc. Formulate and implement the defence of policies and decision-making processes, providing advice on the exercise of statutory functions. Proactively provide the establishment and governance of organisations, including chartered bodies, drafting constitutional documents. Although a heavy weighting will be on judicial review, there will be an aspect of litigation such as statutory appeals and procurement claims, Information Rights Tribunal proceedings and Equality Act claims.
The team consist of Solicitors from both the Public and Private sectors, and to be considered for this role you, like them, will have a background in public law work. A Solicitor or Barrister of up to 3 PQE/call is a requirement. A passion for Public Law will be expected and in return, your career will be guided by the best in the business.
