Locum ASC Solicitor – Adult Social Care & Court of Protection

Location: Yorkshire/remote for the right candidate
Pay Rate: £55 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Locum – 3 months initially, with scope to extend
Hours: Full-time/part-time

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced ASC Lawyer to provide a highly efficient, solution-focused, and cost-effective legal service that supports the lawful exercise of the Council’s functions. You will play a key role in safeguarding the Council’s interests and ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, revise, and advise on complex legal documentation across Council services.
  • Provide expert advice on securing terms that protect the Council’s interests.
  • Research and interpret legislation, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice.
  • Prepare and issue Court proceedings and related documentation.
  • Conduct investigatory and preparatory work for effective case presentation.
  • Undertake advocacy in Court of Protection cases, including contested hearings.
  • Work flexibly within the team to cover Court and Tribunal commitments.
  • Brief Counsel and attend Court as an instructing representative when required.
  • Maintain accurate case load information, progress data, and time recording.
  • Ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of legal services.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Adult Social Care matters and Court of Protection applications.
  • Advocacy experience in Court of Protection.
  • Strong drafting skills for complex legal documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of local government law.

Qualifications

  • Solicitor, or
  • Barrister, or
  • FCILEx
