Technical Support - 1st & 2nd Line - Java Applications

Salary - £22-30K DOE

Location: Bristol (Very close to Temple Meads Train Station)

My client are seeking Technical Support Engineers to work across 1st & 2nd Line support, ideally you will have experience supporting Java-based applications with, good knowledge of troubleshooting issues around other related technologies such as XML. You will be working closely with the Development team so an interest in Software Development would be ideal. This is a great opportunity for a Technically-minded Help desk Analyst or Engineer seeking a fresh opportunity working with a very exciting product in a tight-knit team in a part of the city that is currently being regenerated into a hub for the Bristol food, drinks & leisure scene (meaning no more boring lunch breaks!)

Minimum Criteria (a mixture of the following skills and experience is essential for this role)

  • A proven track record working within a busy 1st/2nd line technical support environment or similar IT support role (minimum 2 years).
  • An understanding of XML, Java and common database technologies.
  • Working in an SLA driven environment.\
  • Proven technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to document new processes and procedures for use both internally and externally.
  • Experience working with other lines of service, including 3rd line technical support/project and operations teams.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and customer service skills.

In addition to the above, if you have any of the below my client would love to hear from you;

  • Knowledge of ITIL Methodologies.
  • Experienced in using JIRA.
  • Working knowledge / experienced in working with API's.
  • Experienced in working as part of an Out of Hours support team.
  • Working knowledge of web applications, including: web client, web service and database systems.
