Software Engineer

Based in the Heart of Chelsea, the Classroom Technology Experience team (CTX) is looking for an experienced, hands-on and results-driven Backend Software Engineer. Your primary responsibility is to design, develop and deliver new features and services for EF Class to our AWS estate. The goal is to provide massively scalable, secure and micro-service-oriented services for teacher and students of the EF Class products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be working with cross functional team following a DevOps culture
  • You will implement new features using RESTful APIs and GraphQL
  • You will be responsible for managing AWS based services
  • You care about quality and know what it means to deliver high quality code to production using good engineering practices like BDD/TDD.
  • You will configure and maintain testing, staging and production environments
  • You will investigate, evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in Python and/or Go and/or Java programming languages
  • Good understanding of REST and asynchronous event driven programming
  • Experience in building distributed systems and NoSQL solutions
  • Significant experience in working with AWS and their products like S3, DynamoDB, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, Ec2, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, Athena, IAM, Cognito, etc.
  • Experience in working in a Continuous Integration and Delivery workflow
  • Experience leading projects or small teams of engineers a plus
  • Machine learning experience a plus

  • Python, Go, Java or similar
