An excellent Award Winning International Manufacturing business based in Glasgow who have a fantastic reputation Internationally have a new opening position within their dynamic Engineering team and they are now seeking to hire for a Software Engineer to join the thriving business on a permanent basis.

The salary on offer is £40,00 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Role: As the successful Software Engineer, you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of Linux at an embedded level and experience of developing Linux based platforms, drivers, and products. In addition to this you will produce firmware, device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSPs) and associated software components for several Linux distributions such as Fedora, Red Hat, Yocto and Buildroot.

Software Engineer key skills:
  • 4-5+ years industry experience
  • Embedded Software Programming in C, C++
  • Embedded Linux expereince
  • Linux kernel driver development - Essential
  • Real-time/embedded systems development experience
  • Experience working in an embedded software environment with Linux
  • Experience working with uboot and multithreading

Desirable nice to have skills:
  • Knowledge of modern Real-Time Operating Systems -RTOS, FreeRTOS, RTEMS
  • Awareness of computer architectures and hardware design
  • Network Interface – SPI, I2C, USB, UART
  • Scripting experience (e.g. Python/Perl)
