Our client create innovative and market leading test tools and work on the latest technologies involved in digital media on consumer electronics devices and now seek a talented Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

As a Software Engineer, you will primarily use Python and JavaScript (amongst other languages/tools such as C/C++, Java etc.) andwill design, develop and deliver software tools for testing consumer electronic devices. You'll have the opportunity to be part of every aspect of this work and we believe communication is the foundation for great teams, so you'll take part in planning the project, daily stand-up meetings and sprint-retrospectives.

You will have opportunities to get involved in interesting projects that global brands, including leading broadcasters, media service providers, and device manufacturers, depend on to make new technologies work correctly.

About You:

You will need to demonstrate flexibility in approach and be willing to assist with all aspects of work, including research, prototyping, design, implementation, documentation, testing and support.

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a relevant technical role which has included software development.
  • Upper second-class degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or another technical or scientific subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to write software, ideally in Python, JavaScript or similar (C/C++/Java).
  • Can demonstrate an ability to approach problems creatively and work in a team to deadlines.
  • Can demonstrate an eye for detail, diligence, and enthusiasm for technology.

Bonus points that would set you apart:

  • An interest or knowledge of digital TV, home networking, security, smart devices, internet-of-things, distributed audio/video and content protection/distribution.
  • A demonstrable interest in software engineering best practices: you care about source control, continuous integration testing and writing clean code.
  • Appreciation and experience of network/web-technologies (TCP/IP, content streaming, app authoring, JavaScript, HTML,).
  • Knowledge of media formats, e.g. MPEG, H264, AAC, Dolby Digital, and experience in creating, modifying and analysing such media files.
