Software Developer

Position Summary: Full Time role developing back end infrastructure to automate data collection and analysis.

Datapad is a very young, well grounded, firm aiming to operate on a global scale. As such, our challenges involve huge datasets from a wide variety of sources. These drive complex statistical models, which produce results that directly influence the success of our clients.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain our data gathering and processing infrastructure
  • Create new tools to gather data from live websites, databases and other sources
  • Migrate current software to a microservice oriented architecture
  • Actively participate in the architecture of new services
  • Collaborating with the data science team to supply data for their models
  • Create and maintain automated tests

Skills - Essential

  • Object oriented programming background (preferably JAVA 7 or 8)
  • Rapid and pragmatic software developer
  • Expert in writing SQL queries views and procs (preferably MS SQL)
  • Can build multi threaded systems

Skills Desirable

  • Development know-how in Unix/Linux environments
  • Web development (JS, HTML, CSS)
  • Graph databases
  • Version control (git, SVN)
  • Development in containers (Docker)
  • Dependency management (Maven,Nuget)
  • Mobile phone development (Android or iPhone)


  • SQL
  • Java (7 or 8)
  • Other languages: C#, python (desirable)


  • 1+ years of program experience


  • 2.1 Bachelor’s degree in programming or other related study

  • Able to work independently
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Can work under pressure of deadlines
