Software Developer

Posted 4 January by Tribal Group Featured Ended

Tribal’s vision is to empower the world of education and we make it our mission to provide the software which underpins student success. As a Developer within our Higher Education team in Hessle, you will play a key role in developing market leading solutions which are used by Higher Education institutions both in the UK and overseas.

The Role

We currently have 2 vacancies up for grabs - one is in our SITS:Vision team and the other is in our Student Information Desk (SID) team.

We are flexible to discussing the role with Developers with a wide range of experiences. Whether you are a recent graduate with limited experience looking for your first commercial role or a Developer with commercial experience, these roles will provide a great opportunity to develop your skills within a first class, market leading and globally deployed product.

Whilst our development team is large overall, you will join one of our smaller agile teams working on focused areas of the products. This will provide lots of opportunity to engage with and contribute to the products as an important stakeholder. Day to day, you’ll clearly see how your input and contribution has a direct effect on our products, with key activities being:

  • Developing the software
  • Translating user requirements into Agile user stories and then into appropriate design, architecture and technical output
  • Reviewing test plans to ensure adequate coverage
  • Providing impact analysis of new features/defect fixes
  • Participating in code quality activities
  • Identifying root causes of defects and spotting trends and patterns

SITS:Vision - SITS:Vision is written in Uniface, and whilst experience in this language isn’t necessary, any experience that you have of Uniface, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle, Java and .NET would be advantageous, along with any familiarity with development languages and recognised database design concepts.

SID - Our SID product is written in C# .Net, so experience of this language is essential. Any experience that you have of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Oracle, T-SQL would be highly beneficial, along with any familiarity with application configuration in IIS, unit testing, software design patterns and recognised database design concepts.

As a Developer at Tribal, you will work on market leading, globally deployed products with a range of technical opportunities and challenges. You will also be given the scope to increase your skills and knowledge as we are committed to investing in the learning and development of everyone in our team. To support this mission, every single Developer at Tribal is provided with a full Pluralsight license and time to learn.

If you are dedicated to developing good quality, commercially scalable software, and would like to join us in our quest to empower education, we would love to hear from you.

What can Tribal offer me?

Based in our friendly and supportive office in Hessle, you will work in an agile setting in partnership with product management, test and support colleagues to make sure that you are deploying code that you can be proud of. We offer a generous benefits package including pension, private medical insurance, life assurance, healthcare cashplan and childcare vouchers.

If you join us as at the start of your Software Development career, you will be eligible for regular increments for the first 3 years as your skills, experience and knowledge grow and develop.

This is a great opportunity to join a team of creative, innovative and motivated professionals as we continue in our quest to develop market leading software solutions.

To apply, please complete our short application form and upload your CV and a covering letter.
