We are looking for a hands-on delivery lead to manage a new team within the people first software engineering department, working with and leading a team comprised of Java developers, web developers and testers to deliver world class software solutions in line with our business and marketing plans. Ensuring all deliverables from their team meet or exceed requirements for time, cost and quality.

Principal responsibilities and activities:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to their cross-functional teams
  • Plan release content and schedule
  • Ensure all developments are completed on time, to budget and to the highest possible quality standards
  • Call out and escalate issues impacting delivery in good time
  • Provide regular accurate status reports
  • Continually review, improve and ensure compliance with appropriate technical standards
  • Attend User Groups and meetings
  • Promote team wellbeing and motivation
  • Work with Business Analysts to produce timebox plans that best reflect the present needs of the business and customers
  • Ensure that quality, reuse, security, scalability, maintainability, operational costs, user experience, business value and other non-functional characteristics are considered as part of product development
  • Facilitate and lead software / architectural design meetings
  • Contribute to skills matrix, training and succession plans and work with Delivery Managers to build team capability making recommendations as appropriate
