Social Worker - Children with Disabilities
Salary from £30,000 to £35,000 per annum
Full Time Contract - 37 hours per week
Children with disabilities works with families with long term complex disabilities issues and require sustained intervention and support to maximise each child's potential. The range includes working with children receiving short breaks or support packages, looked after children and children subject to child protection plans. This includes reviewing and updating assessments, supporting families to achieve change, working with a range of agencies, including health and education to ensure that EHC (Education & Health Coordination) plans are effective and working with colleagues in plan for transitions.
The role of the social worker is to manage a caseload of children/young people with disabilities requiring assessment of their needs, advice, support and development of care plans and support packages in accord with practice guidance. The post holder will work as part of a 0 to 25yrs service for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs. Whilst working within either a 0-15 or 16 -25 team. Within your team you will provide an integrated service to help families meet the needs of their children, build their resilience and support young people progress from childhood into adulthood.

We are entering an exciting period as we improve our service for children and young people with disabilities (from birth up to age 25) and their families, increasing the numbers of Social Workers and Occupational Therapists and preparing for the SEND reforms.

What you'll need to join our Social Work teams
To play a key part in transforming the lives of children and families, you'll be a DIPSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent graduate. This will be backed up by post-qualification experience as a children's social worker. Open to change and ready to innovate, you will be keen to join an environment where you can stretch yourself professionally, make an impact individually and deliver positive outcomes collaboratively.
As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
