This Post is within Criminal Justice Social Work, and is in the Groupwork Services Team. The Family Worker role is to advise and support the victims and families of the men who are attending the Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme. This will include giving the victims an explanation of the key areas of the programme, safety planning and signposting to other agencies.
The team are based in the Town House, Kirkcaldy.
Working days are Monday to Friday, and there may be a requirement to work one late night per week depending on the groups that are running. The victims are sometimes visited while their partner/ex-partner is in attendance at group to ensure personal safety.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.The Individual
You should possess good communication skills and be able to transfer these in different circumstances. Groups are recorded and you will receive constructive feedback on your practice.
You should have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
You will support Fife Council’s role in relation to Sex Offender legislation and associated guidance and to provide services related to the risk assessment and management of sexual offenders, and support Fife Council’s role in the management of perpetrators of domestic abuse.
It would be desirable but not essential if you had experience in a Group Work.
