Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Senior Data Protection Practitioner for an initial 3 month contract with the potential to extend for 3 further 3 month extensions. Based in Glasgow or Dundee on a rate of £250 -£275/day (inside of IR35).

The Role: This role sits within a new public sector agency and will have a key role in enabling the body to demonstrate delivery on our obligations under Data Protection, Information Governance and Freedom of Information legislation. There will be opportunities to work across a range of themes and collaborate with staff across both locations.

Main Duties: Support and deputise for the Data Protection and Information Governance Lead in delivering the tasks of the data protection officer as set out in GDPR Article 39 and ensuring the management of information in a way that respects individual rights whilst supporting business accountabilities.

Promote and advise senior management on a Privacy by Design discipline and approach.

Provide subject matter expert advice and guidance for all staff across the public body on all aspects of data protection, freedom of information and records management. This will include undertaking analysis, providing reports, advice and recommendations, briefings and presentations.

Embed and manage policies and procedures that deliver document and records management capability and professionalism across the body. Ensuring it can deliver its obligations relating to Information Governance including its Records Management Plan.
Manage policies and procedures to ensure delivery of obligations relating to individual rights and other legislative information requests. This will include managing a small team responsible for delivering Rights of Access requests in line with policy, and being the point of contact for relevant Business Units in delivering these requests.

Responsible for the facilitation of the public body's record of processing operations, including managing review processes.

Write and update detailed guides on data protection and information governance policies and deliver training as necessary.

Monitor, and follow up on changes in law, and issue recommendations to ensure evidence of compliance.

Essential Skills: Expert knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws, and/or expert operational knowledge and application of data protection principles and practices

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement skills
