This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join the Sixth Form Learning Mentor Team within the Education sector working within The Mirfield Free Grammar & Sixth Form Multi-Academy Trust.

At The MFG we strive to be the best we can be in everything we do across all departments and faculties. We are incredibly proud of both our Sixth Form and the hardworking, dedicated support team who work tirelessly with students and staff to provide academic support and guidance to our Level 3 students.

Our Learning Mentors provide an essential role to assist teaching staff, addressing the needs of students who need help to overcome barriers to learning so that they can achieve their full academic potential. These barriers might range from a lack of study skills or personal organisation, to complex social and welfare issues.

The primary focus for our Learning Mentors is to fully support students in reaching individual academic potential. This is achieved as a result of our Learning Mentors leading intervention programmes through timetabled study support sessions for groups of students, providing one-to-one mentoring, analysing data to produce accurate reports and show impact, coordinating individual interventions and working with parents to facilitate the efficient transfer of information between all parties.

The successful candidate will be highly motived and confident. A self-starter, who is highly organised, can use initiative and work independently. You must have a genuine passion for the welfare and academic development of young people and act as a role model to young adults. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full academic potential.

Ideally you will be qualified to degree standard. Experience already gained within an educational environment would be an advantage.
