Shipping Co-ordinator. Pertemps are recruiting for a Shipping Co-ordinator to work at the head office for a very large and successful UK based retail chain. This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, dynamic and pro-active individual to lead the operations side of the businesses imports department.

This is a maternity contract for approximately 12 months cover on a full time basis, based in Estover.

- Start between 0800 and 0930
- Finish between 1645 and 1815
- 1 Hour lunch
- Employees need to make sure they are working 7.75 hours a day, Monday to Friday

The successful candidate will be responsible for a Team Leader and 11 members of staff. You will be managing the day to day running of the operational side of the Import Department which includes the following responsibilities:

" Registering container orders.
" Creating customs clearance instructions.
" Checking shipping documents ready for international payments.
" Checking and expediting shipments and telex releases.
" Scheduling container deliveries into the distribution centres.
" Reviewing / issuing of reports.
" Investigating and resolving issues.
" Updating & monitoring of information in both internal and third-party systems.
" The Shipping Co-ordinator acts as the first point of escalation on a variety of issues

Skills & Requirements:
" The ability to lead and motivate a team working in a challenging, busy environment
" The ability to communicate effectively with a range stake-holders
" The ability to work calmly when under pressure
" Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and consistency of work
" Commitment and confidence with strong administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills
" Proficient written, numerical, analytical and IT skills, particularly Excel and a sound understanding of online processes
" Optional - experience of working within the international shipping industry would be an advantage
