Job Title: Shift Manager
Location: Gloucester
Salary: circa £33,000-£36,000

My client, a local engineering company is currently looking for a Shift Manager to join them on a permanent basis. They are a manufacturer of bespoke products for the aerospace and defence markets.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all shift resources are managed to achieve plan conformance and to co-ordinate and lead manufacturing cells and objectives of factory production, manufacturing and efficiency.

Rotating Shifts 6-2 days / 2-10 afternoons. Early Finish every Friday.
You will be managing circa 20-25 members of staff across 5 different departments.
You must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.


*An individual with management/supervisory experience ideally in an SME Coating, Press, CNC Machine Shop, final assembly background.
*Experience of Lean Manufacturing techniques/change management/continuous improvement.
*Good communication skills


*Managing absences, holidays, disciplinary, absence & grievance procedures
*Ensure smooth and efficient operation in order to achieve KPI's and targets
*Delivery of shift responsibilities to agreed budget & costs with accurate and timely performance reporting.
*Flexible use of people resource across all the shift with the regular cross department re-allocation of labour to minimise premium labour cost.
*Follow, implement and enforce H&S, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, Morale and KPI's at shop floor stand-up meetings (at start of shift and every 2 hours)
*Ensure that all MRP transactional activity is completed to prescribed times and physical stock movement discipline is maintained.
*Monitor press cycle to standard & take appropriate action in terms of off standard production within the material quarantine procedures.
*Post cycle monitoring of press cycle to standard. Applying appropriate quarantine procedures in the event of out of specification running.
*Sustain the working areas to set 5S standards.
*Drive shift activity to maximise CTP though understanding the planned demand & that appropriate resources are in place.
*Responsible for all asset care cleaning & AM routines.
*Immediate reporting of machine engineering outage to maintenance with a clear report of the problem. Plant to be handed over to maintenance in a clean and fit condition to be worked on.
