SFS General Ledger Accountant

Applicants are invited to apply for the General Ledger Accountant vacancy within the Finance Department, based at the Port of Liverpool.

Role Purpose: To ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a regular basis and are compliant with a Finance wide best practice approach. To ensure controls are ad-heard to and issues investigated and resolved.

This role will include the following responsibilities:
-Completion of the monthly SFS transactions trial balance and balance sheet reconciliation process including production of all relevant reports
-Distribute and communicate to Divisional Finance Managers and chase for sign off in accordance with pre agreed timescales
-Completion of the regular complex bank account reconciliation process, ensuring all items are investigated and resolved as required
-Assist with year end and half year end audit preparations and submissions in accordance with Auditors requirements
-Timely completion of the monthly VAT submission process for all VAT groups, acting as transactional point of contact with HMRC
-Completion of the monthly Payroll upload and reconciliation process including the year end P11d process
-Reconciliation of the third party supplier statements as identified by Divisional Finance Managers, year end audit requirements and problem accounts as they arise
-Contribute to the delivery of transformational activity including delivery of changes and enhancements to existing process and ways of working

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Experience of working in a month end finance role providing control and reassurance in a large complex organisation
-Proven experience of supervising 3 or more staff and managing team workloads
-Target and KPI driven
-Excellent understanding of internal controls and compliance
-Strong planning, multi tasking and organisational skills
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Up to date working knowledge of VAT regulations and Payroll
-Experience of the SUN V5 Financials package and Vision XV (Version 6) would be ideal
