Settlements Team Supervisor

The purpose of this role will be to supervise staff in the department and monitor workflows in order to ensure team’s duties are carried out in a timely and efficient manner and to the required deadlines. Duties also include deputising in the Line Managers absence as well as providing support and training to junior members of staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Line Manager with the recruitment and development of staff
  • Maintain cross training within and between departments making sure the team are up to date with all industry changes and product knowledge
  • Ensure up to date procedure manuals are in place
  • Ensure Departmental Daily Check Lists are updated and completed
  • Carry out appraisals for staff and complete target and goal setting as set through appraisal process
  • Whilst the main function of the role is supervisory, when work volumes dictate then the Supervisor will actively participate with clearing the department’s workload:
    • Input and and/or authorisation of etransfer instructions into Beta Global system Transitions - arranging trade and settlement dates with market counterparties
    • Transferring/dematerialising stock into/from nominees and updating custody system
    • Preparation of transfer forms and re-registration of stock
    • Crest checking and processing
    • Processing of fund settlements in UK and foreign markets
    • Reporting and investigation of unsettled transactions
    • Capital Gains Tax administration
    • Dematerialisation of both UK and Foreign physical certificates
    • Daily cash memorandum account reconciliation

Quailifications, Skills and Competencies Required:

  • 5+ years' experience in securities administration
  • Demonstrable supervisory or management experience
  • Demonstrable understanding of the transfer process for UK and foreign equities
  • Demonstrable understanding of UK/overseas & unit trust settlements
  • Preferably holder of IOC or equivalent CISI qualification
  • Knowledge of valuations processing
  • Preferably a graduate, educated to minimum of A-level standard, with Grade C GCSE English and Maths
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
